Mocktails & Mingle

Mocktails & Mingle: International Careers

More info

Interested in globally-focused employment? Attend events in this series to learn about working internationally and how that can be done locally, domestically or abroad.

Events are informative, practical, and inspiring. Students are encouraged and guided to:

  • Explore career options (Foreign Service, government offices, nonprofits, teaching abroad, graduate programs).
  • Work on their resume, cover letters, and LinkedIn profile.
  • Attend talks, workshops, and panel discussions by alumni working in the field, diplomats, and other guest speakers.
  • Apply to internships, scholarships, and fellowships.
  • Network, make connections, and investigate the possibilities!

KU alumni work in a variety of international careers. We will be joined by 3 former students who work in international jobs. They will speak about their career paths and offer specific tips about what you can do NOW to prepare for your global future.

Speakers include:

  • Melissa Velazquez, VP of International Programs at Unbound in Kansas City, KS
  • Erik Hornberger, Staff Software Engineer AI/ML at Apple in Pittsburgh, PA
  • Gloria Funcheon, Human Rights Officer at Org. for Security & Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Kosovo
