Welcome to the Center for Global & International Studies

KU’s Center for Global and International Studies (CGIS) was established in 2009. CGIS offers international expertise, education, and global perspectives on the world through academic degree programs and through the organization of transnationally-focused conferences and activities.

The center currently has approximately 200 undergraduate and 25 graduate students enrolled in its programs and reaches many more through its classes, guest speakers, conferences, and events. The ultimate goal of CGIS is to expand and enrich students’ understanding of the world and to prepare them for internationally-focused careers in Kansas, the United States, and abroad.

Thanks to the exceptional resources at KU in area studies, world languages, and international programs, CGIS is able to enhance and develop cross regional and interdisciplinary academic, research, and outreach programs with local, regional, and national impact.
