Costs and Funding - Financial Aid

The KU Office of Student Financial Aid has put together an information sheet detailing financial aid options for graduate students. It offers an overview of the types if loans and grants that may be available. If you'll be applying for financial aid of any type, you'll need to fill out the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

  • Loans from the U.S. Department of Education and other sources are available to all degree-seeking graduate students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester during the regular academic year. Repayment is deferred as long as the student is enrolled in at least 6 hours during each spring and fall semester.
  • KU Tuition Grants are given to most financial aid recipients until this funding line runs out. Submit your FAFSA by March 1st for priority consideration.
  • Payment Plan: KU contracts with a company to offer a payment plan so that tuition and fees can be paid in installments over several months during the semester. Information about how to enroll in the payment plan and the fees charged for the service is available at http://www.bursar.ku.edu/paying_for_ku/tms_installment_plan.aspx.
  • International graduate students may qualify for the KU International Student Tuition Grant and for loans through the KU Endowment Association. Information on costs of attendance at KU and these financial aid options is available through the Office of Student Financial Aid website, here.
