Global and International Studies at KU: Offering Convenience and Flexibility
The Master of Arts in Global and International Studies is based at KU's Edwards Campus in Overland Park, located at Quivira and 127th Street, just south of I-435. The program’s two required courses are offered exclusively at Edwards in addition to a variety of electives. As a result, the program is an option for working adults in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area; Edwards Campus courses meet one night per week in the late afternoon or evening to help students balance their competing demands. Students in the Global and International Studies program who are residents of Cass, Clay, Jackson, or Platte County in Missouri qualify for the MetroKC Tuition Program and pay Kansas resident rates for courses at the Edwards Campus.

Beyond the offerings at Edwards, students in Global and International Studies have access to courses across the disciplines at KU’s main campus in Lawrence. Based on the region and topic of interest, students can choose courses in departments across the humanities and social sciences and in any of KU’s area studies programs. While it is possible to complete the majority of coursework at either campus, depending on a student’s areas of interest, it may be necessary to take courses at both campuses in order to complete the M.A. The K-10 Connector bus service facilitates travel between campuses.
