Sasha Toperich: Global Engagement

Our speaker has lived his life on the global stage. He grew up in multicultural Sarajevo, former Yugoslavia, received his PhD in music and has performed internationally as a concert pianist, has been appointed to diplomatic positions for the US and UN, worked on humanitarian projects in a variety of countries and now works at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies.

Open Forum: Careers in the Foreign Service

Kristin Stewart, Diplomat in Residence, will share information about internships and the Consular Fellows Program. Diverse candidates from under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply! The U.S. Department of State offers career opportunities in foreign policy and diplomacy at over 265 Embassies and Consulates globally. The Consular Fellows program recruits Arabic, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish speakers. Foreign Service Careers are for all majors!


Communism, Drones, Terrorism: A Presentation by FMSO Fellows

Hear from KU students who participated in fellowships with the Foreign Military Studies Office. As fellows, they examined unique aspects of defense and security issues from various foreign perspectives. At this event, you can learn about the students' experiences, their research, publication in an e-journal, and funding for the fellowship.


Meet the Interns

KU students speak about their internationally-focused internships. Learn about internship opportunities and upcoming deadlines. Have your questions answered during the Q&A session. Refreshments will be provided! (This event was originally scheduled for February, but has been rescheduled due to inclement weather).
